Summary

The Rockhampton Railway Roundhouse, listed on the Queensland Heritage Register underwent a three-stage restoration process.  Stage 1 involved the construction sequencing to allow the replacement of the existing timber columns, roof valley beam and knee braces to grid 2. Stage 2 was the construction sequencing to allow the bases of timber poles to be chemically treated or replaced with a new piled footing and steel foot to the base of the poles. Stage 3 was the construction sequencing to allow all the timber roof and the timber and brick wall works, identified as high and very high priority, to be safely undertaken whilst maintaining the heritage of the existing building.
